OUT PATIENT SERVICES (OPD)
The OPD functions everyday except Sundays. Registration is open
from 8 AM to 12.30 PM and 3.30 PM to 6PM. OPD has Consultants
and Doctors from General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics,
Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Cardiology, Dental Surgery
everyday. Visiting Consultants from specialties like ENT,
Paediatric Surgery and Ophthalmology also conduct OPDs at
specific days of the week.
CASUALTY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
Emergency cases are seen through all 24 hours in the Casualty
department. Medicolegal and accident cases are also seen here
following initial accident register entry at a near by
Government or designated hospital. The Emergency Room has
facilities for emergency resuscitation and care of patients.
IN PATIENT SERVICES
Presently the hospital has a total of 150 beds. Patients are
admitted in the General, Semi Private or Private wards depending
on their preference. All wards have staff nurses round the
clock. Doctors do regular rounds to monitor and treat patients.
LABORATORY
The Laboratory services at this centenarian hospital match the outpatient and inpatient facilities, catering to the emergency needs of the clinician in patient care, as well as running all the routine tests for day to day practice.
A Plethora of tests are run by dedicated technicians round the clock. The busy Biochemistry services include tests such as the blood sugar, urea, creatinine, all the enzymes and also blood gas analysis. Special tests such as Elisa and Thyroid hormone levels are also assessed.
The Microbiology, Clinical pathology and Haematology services run all the routine tests necessary for the basic evaluation of the patient. In addition there is facility for Gynaecological smears, aspiration cytology and fluid cytology by appointment everyday.
The blood bank services which have a turnover of 800 to 1000 units per annum is an additional blessing for the needy patient.
The most tests among these are checked periodically by the Quality Control programme run by the C.M.C. and Hospital, Vellore.
OPERATION THEATERS
There are six operation theatres with central gas supply,
central suctioning, fully airconditioned with modern lights and
tables, underwater cutting diathermy and C-arm image
intensifier. Both elective and emergency surgeries are carried
out in Orthopaedics, General Surgery and Obstetrics&Gynaecology.
Visiting consultants from multiple superspecialities like
Urology, Paediatric Surgery, Neurosurgery and Thoracic Surgery
also perform surgeries at our hospital.
LABOUR ROOM
ICU
The hospital has a full-fledged 11 bedded ICU that offers
intensive care for very sick patients. Facilities for
continuous monitoring of patients, mechanical ventilation,
post-op management and thrombolysis of patients after a heart
attack are available.
IMMUNIZATION
All vaccines as per the IAP recommendations are available.
Optional and newer vaccines are also given to children. This is
carried out in the Paediatric OPD.
PHARMACY
The pharmacy is open 24 hours a day so that medicines can be
bought at all times.
BLOOD BANK
We also have a licensed Govt. approved blood bank. We encourage
Volunteer donors to donate blood. Screening for HIV. V.D.R.L.,
Hepatitis, M.P.M.F., etc are done on every donor.
PERIPHERAL CLINICS
The outreach programme is centred around satellite centres at
Kailasapuram, Kamaraj Nagar and Thuvakudi in the periphery of
the town
